Children & Change: Separation and Divorce

The separation or divorce of parents can introduce significant changes into a child's life, many of which are unwelcome and induce considerable stress.

However, I firmly believe that parents have the ability to minimise this stress and disruption by being mindful of how they can adapt their own behaviours, and prioritise their children's needs.

Having experienced divorce when my children were very young, I understand firsthand the challenges associated with this situation. It's not always easy!  But it can truly make a profound difference in a child's life when parents can set aside their own grievances, and really focus on making the transition as gentle as possible for their children.

In this week's video, the 4th in this series all about helping children cope with transitions, I share some ideas on ways to help children with this particularly challenging transition.

Warmest wishes
